Dreamscape Meadows

In my Human-Computer Interaction class at UF, we were tasked with creating an interface for a chosen prompt and conducting a user research process for the interface. My group’s prompt was to make a character customization screen for a video game. We made two designs to compare with one another through A/B testing.

We created a relaxing game to design the interface for, called Dreamscape Meadows, inspired by games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing.

Design A

Design B

Our first design was centered around visual elements, while our second design was focused on textual elements. We wanted to discover which design was more enjoyable for our users and which had more understandable assets.

We created two pages for customizing physical traits and personality traits. After user testing on various students and peers, we received quantitative and qualitative feedback that determined our users preferred Design A’s physical traits page and Design B’s personality traits page. I gained valuable experience from this project’s design process and extensive usability testing, and it grew my interest in UX design.
